Earth Day 2013

Today is Earth Day! Yes, we see the word 'earth' and think for a moment. Sigh, and move on. Everyone realizes the beauty of this glorious, colorful, free  earth. But do we really take time to set a moment and pray? Does any of us take a brief minute to thank the creator,  Jesus for His hand in making us this breath of fresh air to live in? Well, I think after you read this, maybe you will. It is so important to pray!

On a lighter note, prayer can take place anytime, anywhere. If you need any sort of prayer, please visit our website and on the 'contact us' page, send us your prayer request. We ask that you keep it appropriate. All prayer requests are kept confidential. Thanks, Pastor Johnny.

National Girls Ministries Breaks Giving Record

The coins for kids total giving for the 2012 endeavor-Alaska: The Place of God-has broken the project giving record for the third year in a row. Girls across the United States gave $215,276 to help construct a permanent multi-purpose building at Camp Agaiutim Nune (Camp AN) in western Alaska. That broke the previous year's record giving of $201, 263.

In faith, Assemblies of God missionaries Jim and Linda Schulz began making preparations throughout the year to erect the new multi-purpose building. Do to the limited weeks of good building weather, camps will be held in the drafty tents for one last summer. Teams are in place to deliver materials and begin building on July 1. A dedication of the new struction is scheduled for summer 2014.

"Girls have given to help the Yupik people of Alaska have a place to come and hear salvation message and grow in their relationship with God of the universe," says Candy Tolbert, national Girl's Ministries Director.

As churches heard about the Alaska project many without Girls Clubs  gave as well. These churches and Royal Rangers Outposts gave an additional $12,749.

"Camp AN will receive enough funds to construct a building where Yupik children, youth and families can come each summer," Tolbert says.

How to Save a Life

abcs of salvation

To know God and be ready for heaven, follow these steps:
a. Admit you are a sinner.
"There is no one righteous, not even one...for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." (See Romans 5:8; 6:23.)
Ask God's forgiveness and repent of your sins.
"Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." Romans 10:13 (See Acts 3:19)

 b. Believe in Jesus.
(Put your trust in Him) as your only hope of salvation. "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16 (See John 14:6.)

Become a child of God by recieving Christ.
"To all who have recieved Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God." John 1:12 (See Revelation 3:20.)

c. Confess that Jesus is your Lord.
"If you confess with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." Romans 10:9 (See verse 10.)

Inspire Your Day!

Soon, the Hearts blog will be adding a link to the side of the page for all of its members and non-members alike to enjoy. The link will take any person that is willing to give up a second or two of their day, to a site for daily Bible verses. We ask that everyone find a sincere moment to enjoy God's presence. Taking time out of your day to glorify Him for at least five minutes or more is an amazing amount of time for Him to pour His annointed blessings over you! Please take the time to read a verse and let it reveal its comfort to your heart each day!

You may also express your feelings on posts such as this one or other ones related to the 'daily Bible verse' link. Clamor Girl

OH, to be chic and glamorous! I have had this dream where I swoop into a room, head held high, stomach in, flawlessly attired, and hair not out of place. Women see the envy, gentlemen leap to their feet and offer a chair, and I, like Princess Grace, smile regally, then sit down with knees together and slender feet crossed at the ankles. My gown is the latest fashion, spot-less and wrinkle-free. When I speak, my voice is soft but sure, and I do not stammer or hesitate.

I try to make this dream a reality. And while I probably could never be considered glamorous, at least I try to have my hair fixed and have on clean clothes when I go out. But somehow, I always manage to arrive looking like a pup who has been playing in the rain.

Last night we went to the business meeting at church, and it began to rain. By the time we got there, all the good parking places were taken and we had to walk quite a way. I had on my best white slacks, too. It would be understandable to get a few little mud spots on the bottoms, but when we entered the brightly lit room, I discovered I had a big muddy smear on my stomach.

"Let it dry," my husband advised. "Then you can brush it off." I had to give my report before it dried. I knew everyone was looking at the mud, so I kept trying to hold pages over it, and I dropped some. When I bent down to pick them up, I bumped heads with the moderator who had bent down to help me.

"Does my girl feel grumpy?" my husband asked at breakfast the next day.

I groaned.

"How can you love anybody who is so sloppy-so-over-weight-so-klutzy?" I stormed.

"It's hard." He nodded with a grin.

When I began to cry he hugged me.

"If I was all rolled up in bandages, he said,"and you couldn't see me, would you still love me?"

"Of course," I snapped. "It would still be you inside."

"Guess that answers your question." He kissed me. "I love the you inside."

Verse:
I Samuel 16:7 But the Lord said to Samuel, "Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.
